Far too many children are not proficient readers by the end of third grade, thus failing to meet a critical benchmark that strongly predicts their chances of success in school and beyond. Overall, 37% of Massachusetts third graders read below grade level; among children from low-income families, 57% lag in reading. Research indicates that 74% of children who read poorly in third grade have a significantly reduced likelihood of graduating from high school.
To address these deficient findings by the SFC, The Amazing Learning Center has created a unique plan for your child that will improve their reading comprehension in a short period of time. We can demonstrate proven results. Children aged 3 to 6 have been reading in little as 3 to 6 months after exposure to techniques used at The Amazing Learning Center. On top of our focus of reading our day care and child care programs offer these academic programs:
Language Arts - Language skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing are all interconnected. Children will learn to speak naturally and easily, to listen with respect and enthusiasm, and to develop a desire to write and read. Mathematics - Young children learn math concepts best from simple, hands-on work with concrete objects. Teachers emphasize these concepts as they create mathematical activities daily. Math concepts also arise naturally during daily activities. As children begin to incorporate these concepts, they will discuss the symbols that correspond with their mathematical understandings. Science - Young children are natural scientists. They are curious and love to experiment with the physical properties of their surroundings. Our students gain a scientific understanding of their world in many ways. History & Social Studies - The social studies curriculum for young children is about learning respect and cooperation with their friends, family and teachers. Preschool is often a young child’s first experience with the “wider world,” and is the place where they learn appropriate social behavior. Physical Play - We provide children with opportunities to develop their fine and gross motor skills at their own pace, both indoors and out. In this way, children develop and refine the skills they need for sports and writing later on.
We can appreciate that many day care and child care facilities may offer the above. We've gone the extra mile to provide a well-rounded, fun and education experience in our day care and child care programs.
Art - Young children are very creative and imaginative. They enjoy bringing out that imagination on paper to share with you. It is not only there way of sharing their world with us, but enhances their ability to express themselves and their world through drawing, arts & crafts and other age appropriate activities. Comprehensive Health - Learning about our bodies and how to take care of them is an important fundamental in a child's development. With a better understanding of germs and how they can be transmitted help a child understand how we get sick and pass germs to others. Computers & Technology - Let's face it, our children are coming into a highly technological world. They need to have the familiarity with technology as technology continues to expand and become a more dominant learning facilitator in school. Drama, Music & Dancing - We know kids have a great imagination. We encourage kids to act out parts from stories and plays, to dance to music, or to express their own ways to imitate musical sounds and rhythms. We teach children more about Music Dance, and Drama to stimulate their creative and artistic centers of their brain. French, Spanish & Baby Sign Language - Our country is a dynamic melting pot of cultures, languages, religion and creed. With that in mind we take the opportunity while your child is at a critical stage of language development to learn other languages. Nature Walks - Not all learning is confined to the classroom. We have nature walks for children to experience their natural world and surroundings. This at times gives us a new opportunity to teach your child more about his world and surroundings that isn't limited to pictures or books.
